I personally agree that Somizi was wrong to publish  a journalist's contact information and ask his followers to invade her privacy. It is irresponsible of him in the extreme and potentially an unlawful conduct, what he thought was right at that time has put Julie Madibogo the Journalist's family at risks, threats are being fired and also harassments. "They have tormented them for doing their jobs and asking questions in lines with the press code that demands of journalists to give a right of reply to everyone they intend to write a story about''. said the statement issued by SANEF (South African National Editor's Forum)

In this case according to the South African Constitution under chapter 2 Bill of rights (10) human dignity it states that everyone has inherit dignity and the right to have their dignity respected and protected, Somizi might have felt his privacy and dignity was not respected but he took drastic measures that he is not even willing to take a fall for. despite having mixed emotions and taking offence to the questions, he should have not posted her numbers publicly like that, it is uncalled for and there's so much information that can be retrieved about you from your phone number for millions of followers to get ''access to'' that is infringement of some POPI act.

For the fact that this is a women and being in this climate, men on these twitter streets will threaten you with rape unprovoked, Somizi has given them direct access to her. ''God knows who else to visit abuse on you for doing your job is terrifying and completely unacceptable it cannot be overlooked''. Said Bonnie Mbuli on Twitter. 

Somizi should have at least said ''No comment'' or ''please send me questions via email''. That is professionalism and to avoid a lot of violations that are happening in this case, now for his actions he could be charged for intimidation. After everything that has been said his response to this whole thing was '' I will never apologise for being true and honest to myself'' what he fails to understand is the fact that another person's life is on the line now, his followers are out to get her, they are busy harassing the poor journalist and Somizi does not even care at all. If at all he did not put his marriage out there, such questions were not going to be asked from him

''This is a direct attack on media freedom in the country. worldwide similar attacks are being meted out on journalists with intent to silence their voices, especially those of women and the stories they tell''. Said SANEF. Somizi must unreservedly apologise to these journalists and the public on all his social media platforms for his unbecoming behaviour, he must tell all his followers to stop harassing and intimidating them. He should not get away with this because he has money and to all the journalists they should lay charges of intimidation, the law is on their side as well.

 I personally disagree with this statement, we live in the 21st century, where both men and women are equally treated. equality exist when both men and women are able to share equality in the distribution of power and influence. 

Things have evolved, times have changed slowly but surely some things that have not yet changed will eventually get to a point where culture will be put at the back. Gender equality does not mean women and men are the same, but that their rights, responsibilities and opportunities will not depend on whether they are born male or female

For the first time in history South Africa hosted the first women’s Parliament in 2019, the conference was aimed at launching a comprehensive programme of provincial sessions aimed at reviewing the 1994 women’s Charter for the effective equality. The women’s Parliament was celebrating 25 years since the adoption of the women’s Charter and attainment freedom in South Africa. Since then this thing of having males dominate at the cabinet has changed, we also get to see women in parliaments now.

I have learnt that in our country men love to be worshipped and they feel less of a men when a women has more power or at the same level with them, which is why it took a lot of convincing before gender equality was introduced, it was believed that a women’s place is staying at home, raising kids and doing house chores, gladly things have changed a man can still be the head of the house in the house in the house, but when we talk of corporate world equality is there, a women can now sit in the parliament, be part of the cabinet and also do what men can do namely women are now in the construction industry, women drive trucks basically a men’s job can now also be a women’s job.

To elaborate more on my disagreement with this statement ‘’South Africa’s cabinet is now 50% women for the first time ever’’ said Sean Fleming a senior writer for the world forum articles, South Africa joins a list of 10 other countries that have achieved gender parity- or a female majority-in their cabinets. It was about time change was brought, things done differently and maybe just maybe we can see a lot of changes happening, changes in a good way that will benefit the country as a whole

These changes do not mean culture is abandoned but they are bringing about a different angle at how things are looked at now, like the evolution that is taking place now, culture will still be respected like it should be, traditions will also be followed no matter the evolution of things, those one’s can never be changed, they will remain as they are from this generation now to the next and the next generations to come because they are sacred and will always be a part of us as African people. Gender equality should always be practiced in our country.

GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE (GBV) PANDEMIC

GBV Is violence that is directed to an individual based on his or her biological gender identity. It involves physical, sexual, verbal, emotional and psychological abuse, threats, coercion and economic or educational deprivation, whether occuring in public or in private life.

GBV is not only of women violence, even the other gender gets abused but I am going to emphasis on that particular one of Violence against women(VAW) since well August is a women's month and violence against women has become a global pandemic that affect 1 in 3 women in their lifetime.

Currently we are facing a pandemic crisis of Coronavirus worldwide meanwhile on the other hand GBV has also became a pandemic crisis especially that one of violence against women, since the country has been on lockdown the number of cases reported for women violence has been excallating and not only is violence enough these women get killed. Many women had lost their lifes into the hands of those that claim to love them and also those predators that rape, violate and kill women. Nobody and I mean nobody deserves to be robbed of life in such traumatic situations, it has got to stop, Enough is enough

Everyone is having COVID-related stress of lockdowns, job losses and other limitations which is worsening an already abusive situation. But there is No Excuse for any form of abuse. It may be some are afraid to cry for help as their lifes are being threatened, some do speak out but it isn't loud enough only when those that actually do speak are killed it is now heard that is the saddest part of it all. Should any women need help when being violated the numbers below are off help, they will know one's life is in danger.

I can not emphasize this enough but Women need to stand together, unite so we can fight this battle we facing, each and everyday there is a new case a women missing then found brutally beaten, raped and killed it hurts because we now have to live our lifes in fear, am I next?, the people we trust the most turn out to be the one's who abuses us. We as Women #Imbokodo must fight, unite and break the Silence. It is really time for us to take matters into our own hands, Justice has failed many some of them are dead now due to ignorance. I still say there is #NoExcuseForAbuse

Women have had enough of violence, many campaigns have been started to empower women and to also help break the silence, we weren't born to tolerate such abuses, neither of us deserves to be robbed of life, neither of us is supposed to be deprived of their dreams and we cannot keep on allowing man to put an end to our lifes. Violence against Women has got to stop, Enough is Enough, #Abuse is not love, we will rise above hate, we are stronger when united we are Izimbokodo
